PCMC exists to improve substance use/misuse prevention strategies through awareness, education, and advocacy, and to effect community-level change.

Athlete and Wellness

This program is open to youth, and anyone who works with or is the guardian of a youth or adolescent athlete, including coaches, athletic directors, athletic trainers, school nurses, school counselors etc. The goal of the presentation is to identify the causes of substance use, learn the risk of use, and review injury prevention strategies while promoting self-care and management.

Lets’ Clear the Air

This presentation aims to educate youth about and reduce the use and misuse of substances, with an emphasis on those that directly impact youth, including vaping, marijuana, and alcohol.

Substance Use and Advertising

This program can focus on any of the following substances: nicotine (vaping), alcohol, and/or marijuana. Through the program youth will learn about the chosen substance and the ways in which they are advertised to youth. An additional activity can be added to this presentation that ask participants to create anti use advertisements using the information shared during the presentation.

New and Emerging Drug Trends

This workshop explores new and emerging drug trends affecting today’s high school students. Participants will learn about the latest substances, their risks, and signs of misuse.

Don’t Get Vaped In (DGVI)

Presentation that utilizes discussions and real-life examples to promote healthy lifestyle choices by educating students to make informed decisions offered to both adults and youth. (DGVI - Mad Scientist, Don’t Get Vaped in Facilitator Training Peer to Peer)

Escape the Vape

An interactive game that pushes youth through a number of activities that will require participation by promoting general vaping knowledge and combating common misconceptions on usage. Youth will be an active participant in their learning and understanding of vaping and e-cigarettes.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)

Explore the risk and protective factors that influence individuals, and how ACES can impact the overall health of children, adolescents, and adults. This workshop also examines the important roles that school professionals can play in reducing the negative impacts of ACES.

Blindspot

This presentation takes parents/guardians through identifying signs, symptoms, and products used for substance use and misuse by youth. Educational presentation that will equip parents/guardians with the tools to navigate conversations on the topic of substance use with youth.
